He said, Chandrawal's new water treatment plant is going to start in 2026. Since 2012, this project was repeatedly postponed, diverted and stuck by the then governments, due to which the budget of this project increased by approximately ₹ 400 crores. Now with the cooperation of the Central Government, this water treatment plant is going to provide clean drinking water to more than 30 lakh Delhiites including Model Town, Sadar Bazaar, Chandni Chowk, Matia Mahal, Ballimaran, Karol Bagh, Patel Nagar, Rajendra Nagar and RK Puram assembly constituencies.
A separate budget provision has also been made for this in the Union Budget this year. The progress of this project was reviewed in detail in a meeting held today at Delhi Secretariat with Cabinet Associate Parvesh Sahib Singh and officials of the Water Department. Instructions were given to ensure timely completion.
