PM Vishwakarma Yojana Benefits and Eligibility:  Even today, a large number of people in India earn their livelihood through their traditional skills. Some stitch shoes, some sew clothes, while others work with iron and wood. While market demands have increased with changing times, these artisans have neither received new training nor financial support. To address this gap, the central government has launched the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. This scheme provides traditional artisans with training, financial assistance, and access to affordable loans. The government aims to empower these artisans and give their skills a new identity.

What are the benefits of joining the scheme?
Beneficiaries of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana first receive advanced training related to their craft. The purpose of this training is to further enhance the artisans' skills so that they can work according to market demands. A daily stipend of Rs. 500 is provided during the training. In addition, the government provides Rs. 15,000 to purchase toolkits, making it easier for them to start their work.

Affordable Loan Facility
• Under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, artisans are provided with a loan of up to Rs. 1 lakh in the first phase.

• The government has set an 18-month repayment period for this loan.

• Beneficiaries who repay the loan on time get the opportunity to avail an additional loan of up to Rs. 2 lakh in the second phase.

• A 30-month repayment period is given for the second-phase loan, and the interest rate is also kept very low.

Who can apply for the scheme?
• Cobblers, shoemakers, tailors, washermen, blacksmiths, and stone workers are eligible for this scheme.

• Boat builders, garland makers, fishing net makers, locksmiths, and toolkit manufacturers can also apply. • Basket weavers, mat makers, broom makers, doll and toy manufacturers, barbers, blacksmiths, stone carvers, and sculptors are also included in this scheme.

Why is eligibility verification necessary before applying?
It is crucial to verify eligibility before applying for this scheme. This is because the benefits of the scheme are only provided to those who meet the specified criteria. An application submitted with accurate information and eligibility can strengthen both the income and work of the artisans.
