Teddy Sheringham believes that Benjamin Seskois not the answer for Manchester United and has urged his former club to sign Harry Kane. The Red Devils, when Ruben Amorim was still in charge, splashed £74m to sign him from RB Leipzig last summer.
But the Slovenian has had a slow start to life at Old Trafford with just five Premier League goals in 19 appearances, albeit his most recent strike secured victory against Fulham last time.
Former United star Sheringham has suggested that while Sesko continues to develop, the club should consider signing an experienced frontman such as Bayern Munich and England forward Kane.
Speaking to MrQ, Sheringham said: “I’ve quite liked Benjamin Sesko recently. I thought he played very well against Leeds in particular, linking up the play. He’s scored a couple of goals recently too, but he’s a young lad still learning his game.
“There is a big difference between a young lad enjoying his game for an average Premier League team and then going in at Manchester United and being expected to lead the line for a top club and challenging for honours.

“He’s still finding his game, and I believe he will become a good player. But someone who is still learning like Sesko is, it’s not what Manchester United need. They need the finished article in there.
“There’s still a long time between now and the end of the season, so Sesko will get his chances again. I know Michael Carrick has not been starting him, but just by watching and being around the football club, he will learn about what it takes to be a centre-forward for Manchester United.
“I think Sesko is a talented boy, and I think he’s clearly got something about him, but as ever, Manchester United need results now. They need to bring in a proven goalscorer this summer. For me, they should do something that they should have done years ago and bring in Harry Kane.

“They should have gone for Harry Kane three years ago, but they didn’t. They went down the slightly less expensive route in Rasmus Hojlund, and now Benjamin Sesko. You can see what you end up with when you go down that route. You end up with someone who is just an okay player, rather than a top player leading the line.”
Kane is in the middle of another sensational season with Bayern Munich, having hit 36 goals in 32 appearances for Bayern this season.
