The troubles of former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and his son Raninder Singh have increased. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned both of them for questioning in Jalandhar in case of violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). The father and son are accused of being beneficiaries of some foreign assets, including Swiss bank accounts.

According to officials, BJP leader Amarinder Singh has been asked by the Central Investigation Agency to appear at its office in Jalandhar on Thursday (February 12). His son has been summoned the next day i.e. Friday (February 12). ED will interrogate both of them about the allegations.

Amarinder Singh is admitted in the hospital

However, Captain Amarinder Singh will not be able to appear on February 12 because he has recently been admitted to a private hospital in Mohali. It is being told that Amarinder Singh is admitted in the hospital for the treatment of knees. In such a situation, ED can give him a new date to appear and record his statement.

Raninder Singh confirmed to appear

Amarinder Singh's son Raninder Singh has confirmed to appear before the ED office in Jalandhar on Friday. He gave this information through social media. He said in his post, 'As law abiding citizens, we will fully cooperate with all investigating agencies. We have full faith in the rule of law and we are confident that truth and justice will prevail.

what is the matter

This step is related to the September 2025 order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The High Court had then rejected the petitions filed by Amarinder Singh and his son, in which they had requested to stop the ED from investigating the charge sheet filed against them by the Income Tax Department. Both are accused of being beneficiaries of some foreign assets including Swiss bank accounts.

allegations against singh family

The case relates to credible information received by India from the Government of France in 2011 alleging that the Singh family is the beneficiary of foreign assets maintained and controlled through foreign business entities. In such a situation, due to these allegations, ED has called the father and son for questioning.
