UP Budget: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has made several important announcements for women in its tenth budget. This budget has focused specifically on empowering women and providing them with more facilities. In this regard, an announcement has been made regarding free travel for women on road transport buses. This facility will be available to women over 60 years of age. The government has allocated a token amount of ₹1 lakh in the budget to launch this scheme. The token system means that the formal launch process has begun, and it will be fully implemented soon.
It is worth noting that the Transport Corporation has been providing free bus travel to all women every year on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, but now preparations are underway to provide permanent relief to elderly women. Some time ago, discussions were held at the government level regarding providing free travel to women over 60 years of age. This facility will provide significant relief to elderly women, especially those who are financially weak or who need to travel for medical treatment, visiting relatives, or other important errands.
The budget also focuses on women's economic empowerment. The budget for the Women and Child Development Department has been increased to ₹18,620 crore, an 11 percent increase. The "UP Women Entrepreneur Credit Card" scheme is being launched to promote women associated with self-help groups. A provision of ₹151.04 crore has been made for this.
In addition, 500-bed working women's hostels will be built in six cities: Ayodhya, Bareilly, Aligarh, Mirzapur, Saharanpur, and Moradabad. These hostels will provide safe and affordable accommodation for working women. ₹80 crore has been allocated for this scheme.
The Women Entrepreneur Product Marketing Scheme will also be launched to promote the sale of women's products. Under this scheme, women-run marts will be opened, where products from self-help groups and rural women will be sold. ₹100 crore has been allocated for this. Consequently, this budget is considered a major step towards making women self-reliant and secure.
