The PM first reached Chabua airfield, from where Moran had reached in a C-130. ELF has been built on a 4.4 km long stretch of Moran Airstrip NH-127. This is India's first Emergency Landing Facility (ELF). Its launch will help military and civil aircraft in landing. The plane in which Prime Minister Modi was sitting today has also been landed on the same highway.
In this program, first a Rafale and a Sukhoi-30 landed on the air strip. After this, the Air Force's Dornier aircraft took off from the same strip. Later C-130J landed. Simultaneously, Sukhoi and Rafale were taken off sequentially.
Three Sukhoi fighter planes fly-past in front of the stage and conducted a touch and go drill. After this, three Rafales also executed a similar formation drill.
In view of the challenges of a possible two-front war in the future, the Indian Air Force is strengthening its preparations. Emergency landing facilities are being prepared on highways in different parts of the country, so that fighter and transport aircraft can use alternative runways if needed.
This project has been completed with the joint efforts of the Central Government, Ministry of Road Transport and Indian Air Force. This program being organized today will not only give the message of strategic strength in the North-East, but will also showcase India's intensifying military preparedness.
