A tragic accident occurred in Mulund (West), Mumbai on February 14, 2026, when a portion of an under-construction Metro Line-4 pillar (Pier P196 on RAJV/Milan stretch) collapsed on LBS Road near Johnson & Johnson Company at around 12:15-12:20 pm. Part of the concrete parapet collided with a moving autorickshaw and damaged a nearby car, killing one person and injuring three others.

The deceased was identified as Ramdhan Yadav, who was declared dead at Upasana Multispeciality Hospital. The injured—Rajkumar Inderjit Yadav (45, critical in ICU), Mahendra Pratap Yadav (52, stable), and Deepa Ruhiya (40, stable)—were taken for treatment, and the state government bore the medical expenses.

Emergency teams including Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, MMRDA staff, BMC ward staff and ambulances responded immediately. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) reported that a portion of the parapet fell on an autorickshaw from a height; The rescue operation continued on a war footing in coordination with BMC, fire brigade, traffic police and disaster management. All necessary medical help was given.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed grief, ordered an investigation into the cause, and announced a financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to the family of the deceased. Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde condemned the incident, calling it “gross negligence” on the part of the MMRDA, contractors and consultants—especially since the parapet was installed only the previous night—and promised a third-party audit, strict action and filing of cases.

This accident highlights the safety concerns in the ongoing metro construction amid the rapid infrastructure work in Mumbai. Investigation is underway to find out the actual cause such as structural failure or process lapse.
