Founder of Hindu Swarajya Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ‘Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Janmotsav: Hindavi Swarajya Mahotsav 2026’ has been organized at the base of Shivneri fort in Junnar Taluka, which is the holy birthplace of him. d. The three-day festival will be held on the grounds of Shankarao Butte Patil Vidyalaya from February 17 to 19. The event has been organized in collaboration with the Pune District Administration and the State Tourism Department.
The official inauguration of the festival will be held on February 17 at 10 am by dignitaries and various programs will be presented highlighting the history, culture and folk traditions of the Shiva period.

Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is the inspiration of the entire nation and it is a matter of pride to celebrate this festival at his birthplace. He expressed the belief that through this activity, efforts will be made to convey the thoughts and culture of Shiva’s time to the new generation and tourism will also be boosted.
Sanjay Khandare, Principal Secretary, Tourism Department, said that the nature of the festival is inclusive and platform will be given to traditional art, folk art and local activities. Special emphasis has been laid on providing necessary facilities for tourists.
Director of Tourism Directorate Dr. B. N. Patil said that the main objective of the festival is to promote local arts, sports and culture. He also appealed to Shiva devotees and tourists to attend in large numbers.

After the inaugural function on February 17, ‘The Folk Narrative’ based on folk songs, kabaddi competition, bullock cart race, exhibition of women’s self-help groups and food festival will be the attractions.
Bullock cart race, folk art performance, Kesari wrestling competition, human tribute to Shivaji Maharaj and performance of the play ‘All the Best’ will be held on February 18.
On February 19, a presentation of manly games of the Shiva period, an exhibition of women’s self-help groups and a grand procession in the evening have been organised. The festival will conclude with Mahaarti and colorful cultural programs.
Citizens have been requested to participate in large numbers in this historic ceremony organized by the initiative of the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department of the state.
