Ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a new scheme for the youth. This scheme is called the Banglar Yuva Sathi Scheme. Its primary objective is to provide financial support to unemployed youth in the state so that they do not face financial difficulties while searching for jobs or pursuing skill development. The government recognizes that many young people seek employment after completing their studies, but due to financial pressures, they are forced to take up menial jobs. This scheme will help them become self-reliant by providing them with a monthly assistance of Rs. 1,500. This scheme is expected to be implemented from April 1, 2026, and the funds will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts.

What is West Bengal's Banglar Yuva Sathi Scheme?

The West Bengal government's Banglar Yuva Sathi Yojana is a new welfare scheme aimed at providing financial assistance to unemployed youth in the state. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced this scheme ahead of the 2026 assembly elections. Under this scheme, eligible youth will receive a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,500, ensuring they are not short of funds while searching for a job or pursuing skill development. Applications for this scheme will open on February 15, 2026, and the deadline is February 26, 2026. Special camps will be set up in all 294 assembly constituencies in the state between February 15 and 26, where forms will be distributed and collected.

How to Apply?

Fill out the form at the special registration camps set up in each assembly constituency. Forms will be accepted only between February 15 and 26. A sample application form can also be downloaded from the official website. The completed form must be submitted at the camp along with the required documents.

Who can apply?

Only youth between the ages of 21 and 40, who have completed at least 10th grade, who are currently unemployed, and who are residents of West Bengal, can apply for this scheme. However, youth who are already benefiting from any other state government welfare scheme are not eligible. However, students who are already receiving scholarship benefits can apply.

When will the money be available?

According to the government, disbursements under the scheme will begin on April 1, 2026. Initially, it was planned to begin on August 15, but now it is being implemented earlier. Locals say that this scheme can prove especially helpful for students and unemployed youth. Many youth prepare for jobs or undergo skill training after completing their studies. In such situations, receiving Rs. 1,500 per month will help them with their daily expenses.
