Harmanpreet Kaur Opts to Bowl First in Second T20I Against Australia

In the second T20I of the three-match series held at Manuka Oval in Canberra, Indian women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and decided to bowl first against Australia, led by Sophie Molineux.


India currently leads the series 1-0 after securing a victory in the first match by 21 runs using the DLS method. The team aims to win this match to clinch the series.

Captain's Insights

After winning the toss, Harmanpreet Kaur explained her decision to bowl first, citing the conditions as a key factor. She expressed confidence in her bowlers, hoping they would replicate their strong performance from the previous match. 'Considering the conditions, we felt bowling first was the best choice for us. Our bowlers did an excellent job in the last game, and we hope they maintain that positive mindset today,' she stated.


Recap of the Series Opener

In the first match of the series, Arundhati Reddy delivered a standout performance, taking 4 wickets for 22 runs, which significantly weakened Australia's batting order after India opted to field. Renuka Singh also made an early impact, and despite some resistance from Phoebe Litchfield (26) and Georgia Wareham (30), Australia was bowled out for 133 runs in just 18 overs.


In response, Shafali Verma provided a quick start with 21 runs off 11 balls before rain interrupted play at 50 for 1 in 5.1 overs. With the DLS par score set at 29, India was declared the winner by 21 runs.
