Changes are being made by Delhi Metro for the safety of its passengers, improvement in operational system and resolution of complaints. For this, Metro Rail Corporation is adopting Artificial Intelligence on a large scale in its operations. Nowadays anyway the use of AI has increased a lot.
Now recently, at the India AI Impact Summit held at Bharat Mandapam, Delhi Metro was seen giving information about its latest initiative through an exhibition. In this matter, Union Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Minister Manohar Lal said that this step is important towards modernizing public transport.
Chatbot ‘Poochho Chetna’ has been launched for passengers in Delhi Metro. This is proving to be quite useful. This platform is completely secure and runs only on a hosted platform in the country. With the help of Chetna, travelers can plan their journey. They get to know how much fare they will have to spend for commuting and real time updates of the train. If you want to book a ticket, you can do that easily. This multilingual chatbot also operates with voice commands. All these downloads are quite useful for people who don’t know how to type.
The facilities that are being provided to passengers through AI. Due to this, the complaint redressal system has become better than before. Under the first phase, disposal of written complaints has started and the disposal time has reduced significantly. This increases transparency between Delhi Metro Corporation and passengers. Now in the second phase, a voicebot will be installed on the helpline number 155370. It will register the complaint instantly and transfer the call to a human representative if needed.
Important steps have also been taken by Metro in the field of security. Pantograph collision detection system has been installed on Red, Blue and Yellow lines which detects the condition and fault of overhead wires through accelerometer and sensors. Eye-based video analysis is also being done on Pink and Magenta lines. Automatic wheel profile monitoring and axle bearing temperature monitoring system has been installed on the Pink Line, which has increased the reliability in train operations.
Giving information about this, Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal said that it has been planned to use advanced AI technology in future, for which training of employees is going on. With the use of AI, Delhi Metro has now become not just a fast medium but a smart and safe transportation system.
