New Delhi: The world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is progressing rapidly in India and now an indigenous company has made a strong claim in this race. Indian AI startup ‘Sarvam’ remains the center of discussion these days. The company has not only developed its own robust language models, but has now quietly launched its own AI chat app ‘Indus’, which is specifically designed keeping Indian users in mind.

The ‘Indus’ app is currently available for download on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Apart from this, its official website is also live, from where it can be used through web version. However, right now all users
Downloading is not successful. The company has currently started it with a waiting list. New users will need to verify their phone number and, in some cases, may also be required to provide an invitation code.

What is Sarvam Indus?

Indus is an AI assistant developed by Sarvam, which is designed according to Indian needs. The company claims that this is a product completely developed in India. Its most important thing is that users can communicate with it in almost all Indian languages. Facility to change language during conversation has also been provided. That means, if you start the question in English and want the answer in Hindi in between, then it is easily possible.

Voice command and smart reply

Like other popular chatbots, Indus also has the facility of voice commands. Users can ask questions by voice and AI will respond accordingly. This system prepares answers by searching information on the Internet or doing in-depth analysis. Its objective is to provide fast and accurate information to the users.

What else can Indus do?

Indus is not limited to chat only. Facility to upload files is also provided in it. Users can upload images, PDF or other documents. After this, AI can analyze that content and answer the questions to it.

The company has also indicated that the facility to write and edit documents can be available within the app itself. Along with this, the facility of AI agents can also be added to the app. This means that users will be able to automate some tasks. For example, gathering information, drafting or simplifying other digital tasks.

On which model is Indus based?

Sarvam has not clearly stated on which AI model Indus is based. But recently the company had introduced two big language models Sarvam-30B and Sarvam-105B during the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Both these models have been developed in India. There is a possibility that Indus works on these models.

How to use?

Indus App can be downloaded on both Android and iOS platforms. Its use is also possible through the website. At present, users may have to join the waiting list. Those who have the invite code can get direct access.
