There's good news for train passengers. Cleanliness is a major concern for long-distance travelers. If you've faced issues with cleanliness on long-distance trains, your experience is about to improve.
In order to improve the passenger experience on long-distance trains, Indian Railways has announced a major reform to enhance onboard cleaning through tech-enabled professional teams. This was announced by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav himself.
Trains will now be cleaned as needed.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav stated that under the new system, all train coaches, including general class, will be cleaned as needed, not just at designated stations.
Under the current Clean Train Station scheme, trains are cleaned at specific stops along their route. However, this new reform will ensure that trained staff are deployed onboard clean every hour or as needed throughout the journey.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, "Cleaning frequency will be regulated based on peak and non-peak hours, and war rooms will be created to monitor the cleaning process using technology. This initiative will establish clear responsibility and accountability for service providers, and will involve professional, self-disciplined, and proactive teams to exceed customer expectations."
Reforms to be implemented on 80 trains initially
Initially, 80 trains have been identified for this reform. Based on experience and feedback, the system will be expanded to other trains across the network.
