In a shocking incident, a six-month-old baby allegedly had a portion of its finger cut while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru, prompting police to register an FIR against a nurse, the treating doctor and the hospital management.
The incident occurred at Chinmaya Mission Hospital in Indiranagar, where the infant had been admitted on February 19 with fever and cough.
According to the complaint filed by the parents, the baby was under treatment at the hospital from February 19 to February 24.
The alleged incident took place on February 24 while the parents were at the billing counter completing discharge formalities. During the removal of the IV drip and dressing, the nurse allegedly inserted scissors on the wrong side and partially cut the little finger of the baby’s left hand.
The infant was immediately shifted to the emergency ward for treatment.
Police said the baby sustained a serious injury to the tip of the finger.
Following the incident, an FIR was registered at Indiranagar Police Station against the nurse, the treating doctor and the hospital management under relevant sections.
The parents expressed anger over the incident and alleged medical negligence, demanding strict action against those responsible.
Police said further investigation is underway.
