Tezzbuzz Desk- Dishes have special importance on Holi, the festival of colors and happiness. As the month of Phalgun approaches, preparations for making Gujhiya, Namkeen and Papad begin in homes. This year, Holi will be celebrated on March 4, 2026, so if papads are prepared from now, they will dry well and the work on the festival will also be easy.
If you buy urad dal papad from the market every time, then try making it at home this time. Their rich flavor and crispness will make your Holi snacks even more special.
The taste of urad dal papad is deep and spicy. You can serve them not only with food but also with evening tea or by making spicy chaat. Their taste is further enhanced with chopped onions, tomatoes, green chillies and lemon juice.
First of all, take urad dal flour in a big vessel. Add papad khar, salt, black pepper powder and asafoetida and mix well. Now add water little by little and knead a hard but smooth dough. Cover the dough with cotton or muslin cloth and keep it aside for at least 2–3 hours. This improves the texture of the flour and the papads do not tear while rolling.
Spread the prepared papads separately on a clean cloth or plastic sheet and dry them thoroughly in the sun.
When the papads are completely dry and there is no moisture left in them, store them in an airtight container. If needed, fry them in oil or can also eat them by roasting them directly on gas.
This Holi, surprise your guests with homemade urad dal papad. Taste, crispiness and homemade love – the perfect combination of all three will make your festival even more special.
