The first two victims of the mass shooting that occurred early Sunday at a bar in Austin, Texas, have been named as Savitha Shan and Ryder Harrington, as reported by local news sources. This tragic event resulted in three fatalities and left 14 individuals injured, shocking the local community and leading to an extensive investigation.


Ryder Harrington, a Texas Tech University student and member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity's Fall 2024 Pledge Class, is being remembered fondly. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to assist his family, successfully raising over $41,000 towards a $50,000 target by Monday morning. The fundraiser expressed deep sorrow over Harrington's passing, highlighting his joyful nature and welcoming demeanor. A candlelight vigil is planned for Monday evening at 8 p.m. at 1410 Orlando Ave.


Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows shared his condolences, noting that Harrington was related to one of his staff members. He expressed that their hearts are heavy for the Harrington family during this difficult time. Additionally, 24-year-old Savitha Shan has also been confirmed as one of the victims.
