Amidst Iran-Israel war, India increased its strength, made a deal worth Rs 5000 crore

Amidst the ongoing Iran-Israel tension in the Middle East, India has taken a big step to strengthen its maritime and air security. The Defense Ministry has approved two important defense deals worth about Rs 5,083 crore. This decision has been taken at a time when the global situation is uncertain and security of maritime borders has become more important than ever.

The government has signed an agreement with HAL worth Rs 2,901 crore. Under this, the Indian Coast Guard will get six Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Mk-III maritime roles. These are modern helicopters with two engines, which are considered more efficient and safer than the existing helicopters.

These helicopters can also take off from land based airports and can also be operated from ships floating in the sea. They will be used in many missions like maritime surveillance, keeping an eye on suspicious activities, relief and rescue operations and protection of fishermen. The government says that their deployment will also help in works like artificial islands, marine bases and environmental protection.

Self-reliant India will get a boost

More than 200 MSME companies of the country will participate in this project. This is expected to generate employment of about 65 lakh hours. This means that this deal will prove beneficial not only for security but also for employment and domestic industries.

State-of-the-art missile system for navy

The second contract is worth Rs 2,182 crore, which has been done for Surface-to-Air Vertical Launch Shtil missile system. This agreement has been signed with Russia's government defense export company JSC Rosoboronexport. This missile system will enable the frontline warships of the Indian Navy to be protected from aerial threats. Its specialty is that it can react rapidly in all weather conditions and protect ships from enemy aircraft, drones or missile attacks. This will further strengthen the Navy's multi-tier air defense system. According to the Defense Ministry, this deal also strengthens the India-Russia defense partnership. Considering the current geopolitical situation, this step of India clearly indicates that the country will not make any compromise on the security of its borders and maritime interests.
