If you are also planning to buy a new phone of OPPO or OnePlus after March 20, then there is big news for you. Both the companies have issued a joint statement saying that smartphones will become expensive from March 16. Due to rising component prices due to continuous shortage of supply, this change in smartphone prices will be applicable in all markets including India.
Initially, the price hike will mainly impact budget devices from OPPO's K series and A series line-up as well as select OnePlus smartphones. On the other hand, OPPO's flagship Find series, Reno series and OPPO Pad line-up will all continue to be sold at the current prices.
According to the report of 91 Mobiles, both the companies are currently silent about the actual increase in the prices of smartphones. If we look at the market trend, there may be an increase of about 15 to 20 percent. This means that the OnePlus 15R, which was launched at a price almost 6 percent higher than the previous model at Rs 47,999, can now cross the Rs 50,000 mark. Some time ago, a leak had indicated that the starting price of this phone could be Rs 51999.
The prices of other existing smartphones including OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Nord 5 series are also expected to increase. Talking about Oppo, the smartphones whose prices are likely to increase include Oppo K14x, K13 series, K12x, A6 series and A5 series. If you are keeping an eye on these smartphones then it is better to buy them now rather than later.
Not only OPPO and OnePlus, other manufacturers are also struggling with rising component prices and ultimately can pass the burden on the customers. Samsung and Realme have already increased the prices of some of their smartphones (select models) in India, while Vivo and iQOO are also expected to do the same soon.
