Vietnam’s Noi Bai and Da Nang international airport surged in this year’s list of the world’s top 100 airports, outperforming major hubs such as Beijing Daxing International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport, according to London-based aviation consultancy Skytrax.
The ranking released on March 18 is part of the annual World Airport Awards 2026, based on passenger satisfaction surveys assessing traveler experiences across a range of airport service and product performance indicators, from check-in, arrivals and transfers to shopping, security, immigration and departure procedures at the gate.
Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi rose eight places to rank 71st while Da Nang airport, central Vietnam’s aviation hub, ranked 75th, up nine places from last year.
In recent years, Noi Bai Airport has improved its services by adding phone charging stations, providing free Wi-Fi, and upgrading facilities to better accommodate passengers with disabilities.
The airport’s T2 international terminal was expanded at a cost of VND5 trillion (US$196.4 million), with additional check-in counters and scanners installed by December to boost its capacity to 10-15 million passengers annually.
Da Nang International Airport’s international terminal T2 has earned Skytrax’s 5-star rating for two consecutive years, thanks to the integration of advanced technology that reduces waiting time and enhances passenger experience.
Beijing Daxing, home to the world’s largest airport terminal, ranked 82nd while John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York’s international gateway, secured the 85th place.
Changi Airport in Singapore was named the world’s best airport this year, followed by Seoul Incheon in South Korea and Tokyo Haneda in Japan.
