New Delhi: Before the start of IPL 2026, a bad news has come for Chennai Super Kings. Fast bowler Nathan Ellis has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to injury. According to sources, he is suffering from a hamstring injury, which has necessitated his rest. However, it is not yet clear which player will be included in the team in his place.
Nathan Ellis’ vacancy is a major concern for Chennai, as he was known to play a vital role in the death overs. His absence may affect the bowling balance of the team. In this situation, New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry may get more chances to play in the playing eleven.
If we talk about Nathan Ellis’s T20 career, it has been quite spectacular. He has taken more than 200 wickets in 180 matches. His performance at the international level is also praiseworthy, where he has taken 55 wickets in 36 matches. That is why he was included in the team on important occasions.
Apart from Matt Henry, the current fast bowling attack of Chennai Super Kings includes bowlers like Gurjapaneet Singh, Mukesh Chaudhary and Khalil Ahmed. Additionally, all-rounders Shivam Dubey and Jamie Overton can also bowl if needed.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) campaign will begin on March 30 against Rajasthan Royals at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. This time, cricket fans will not see MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja in the same team, as Jadeja was traded to Rajasthan Royals last year. At the same time, Sanju Samson will be seen playing for the yellow jersey i.e. CSK for the first time.
The IPL Governing Council said that due to the assembly elections to be held in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Assam, there has been a modification in the scheduling. At present, a program for the first 16 days has been prepared so that security and administrative arrangements remain smooth. The schedule for the second part of the tournament will be released only after the Election Commission announces the voting dates. The board is monitoring the situation and will share detailed information about other matches soon.
