Chief Minister Sukhu of Himachal Pradesh has extended an invitation to industry leaders to invest in the state's tourism, food processing, and information technology sectors. During the CII Himachal Pradesh Annual Conference held on March 20 in Shimla, themed 'Building Himachal Pradesh for a Better Future: Harnessing Local Strengths for Global Competitiveness', he emphasized the government's commitment to promoting green industries that align with the region's unique geographical and environmental characteristics.
Sukhu assured that the state government would provide all necessary support and facilities to industries, particularly encouraging investments in tourism and hospitality. He announced plans for a substantial investment of ₹3,000 crores in tourism in the near future. The Chief Minister also mentioned ongoing construction of heliports at district headquarters and major tourist destinations, with heli-taxi services already operational and plans for further expansion. Additionally, the expansion of Kangra Airport is currently underway.
The Chief Minister assured that any harassment of entrepreneurs would not be tolerated and invited them to bring their grievances directly to his attention. He highlighted the development of a bulk drug park in Haroli, Una district, aimed at encouraging investors. Stressing the need for improvements in the single-window clearance system, he stated that all approvals for industries should be accessible in one location, and the industry department should actively assist investors.
Sukhu noted that most industries in the state are located near the borders of neighboring states and mentioned that the government is focusing on enhancing infrastructure in these areas. Efforts include developing underground utility pipelines in Baddi inspired by the Shimla model and addressing power supply issues in industrial zones.
