The war continues between America, Israel and Iran. There is no sign of its ending at the moment. It is believed that President Trump is surrounded by this war. As the war is dragging on, difficulties are increasing for Trump on the domestic front as well. Former US Defense Minister and former Chief of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Leon Panetta has made a scathing attack on President Donald Trump regarding the war with Iran. He said that Trump is in a very difficult situation at this time, but no one else is responsible for this except him.
Panetta said in an interview that Trump faces a big challenge. Either they escalate the war to open the Strait of Hormuz, or they retreat and claim victory, while the reality is something else. Panetta said that for many years American security officials were aware that Iran could stop the supply of oil around the world by blocking the Strait of Hormuz. This was a known threat, which was deliberately ignored during the conflict. It doesn't take rocket science to understand that if you are going to go to war with Iran, one of the biggest vulnerabilities is the Strait of Hormuz.
Former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Chief Leon Panetta also raised questions on the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He said that Trump thought that Iran would weaken after the death of the Ayatollah. But he became stronger than before. Now the situation became more tense. America and Israel definitely gained air superiority, but the war continues. In response, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, increasing the risk of a global oil crisis. Panetta questioned Trump's working style and said that he often assumes that saying something repeatedly will make it true. He called it childlike behavior and said that the President should not do this.
According to the report, due to rising oil prices and falling popularity, Trump is facing problems in supporting the war in his own country. There are signs of cracks in their political alliance also. Panetta said that America took action at a time when there was hope for change in Iran. But on the contrary, now a more strict and fanatical leadership has emerged there, which can remain in power for a long time. The former Defense Minister also said that Trump ignored relations with allied countries and NATO during his tenure. Now in times of crisis they have to ask for help from the same countries.
According to Panetta, Trump now has limited options. If there is no ceasefire soon, then merely declaring victory will not resolve the situation. As long as Iran maintains pressure on the Strait of Hormuz, it is difficult to avert the crisis. At the same time, the Trump government says that regarding Hormuz it has been said that it cannot be captured immediately. For this, an operation will have to be planned, which may take weeks. America has also informed Israel regarding this. This information has come at a time when America and Israel have intensified attacks on Iran and tension has increased in the Gulf of Hormuz.
