Law is equal for all: CM Mann

Punjab government has accepted the resignation of former minister Laljit Bhullar in the Gagandeep Singh Randhawa suicide case. On this matter, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has clearly said that whether it is a minister or a policeman, the law is the same for everyone. Our policy towards corruption is zero tolerance. In the past also we have taken several actions in this regard.

Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, District Manager of Punjab State Warehousing Corporation in Amritsar, allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison on Saturday morning. Minister of State Laljit Singh Bhullar then resigned later in the day following allegations of harassing the officer.

There may be a CBI investigation into the suicide case.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday assured that if all the MPs of Punjab write to him requesting him on this matter, he will immediately order a CBI inquiry into the alleged suicide of a State Warehousing Corporation official.

This issue was raised in the Lok Sabha by Congress MP from Amritsar Gurjit Singh Aujla. He alleged that Bhullar put pressure on the officer, due to which he committed suicide. The Union Home Minister sitting in the House at that time was about to leave when Aujla requested him to listen to her.

After that Shah replied that if all the MPs of Punjab together write to him and give him a request, then he will immediately order a CBI investigation into the matter.
