Walton Middle School stabbing stabbing horror as students rushed to hospital

Police have rushed to reports of a stabbing at Walton Middle School in DeFuniak Springs, with two students and an adult taken to hospital. Walton County Sheriff's Office were believe to have been alerted at 7:22 a.m Florida time.

According to police, a suspect was arrested not far from Walton Middle School. Sheriff Michael Adkinson said: "Our first priority, along with Walton County School District, was to ensure that students and staff were safe, the situation was brought under control, and accurate information was relayed to parents regarding reunification." WCSO says a School Resource Deputy on campus and additional patrol deputies responded to the scene, along with the DeFuniak Springs Police Department. Officials confirmed the incident occurred before school started.

WCSO added: "For any student currently at the school who arrived by bus or drop-off, a reunification site is being set up at the Walton County Fairgrounds, 790 N 9th Street, in Defuniak Springs."

According to the Walton County School District, parents are being asked to monitor the WMS Rooms, Walton Middle School, and Walton County School District social media channels for further updates.

Lessons at the school have been cancelled as authorities investigate an incident on campus.

One person wrote on X: "There was a stabbing at our Walton County Middle School in NW FL this morning. I am here to pick up my neighbor's child".
