However, it is a matter of relief that such a situation has not arisen in India. The government claims that there is sufficient stock of oil and gas in the country. Despite the government's claims, there are some people who are spreading rumors and because of them long queues are forming at petrol pumps. This was seen in many cities of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.
There was a sudden stir in Shajapur here on Tuesday night regarding petrol and diesel in the city. Out of the five petrol pumps, three Radha Pump, Bus Stand Pump and HP Pump located on Berchha Road had not sent the advance payment to the company, due to which the oil company stopped their supply. As soon as this information spread, long queues of vehicles formed at the remaining two pumps. Many people stood in line for hours.
Assistant Supply Officer Devendra Sharma said that the company is now providing fuel only on cash-credit, but there is sufficient stock in the remaining pumps of the district. Collector Riju Bafna appealed to the people to maintain peace. He clarified that the availability of petrol, diesel and domestic gas is normal in the district. Ignore rumors and do not hoard unnecessarily. All pump operators have been instructed to place orders on time so that the supply remains uninterrupted. The administration has made a humble request to the public to buy fuel only as per requirement.
Messages related to sudden shortage of petrol started circulating on social media in Indore. As soon as the concerned drivers came to know about this entire matter, they reached various petrol pumps in Indore city to fill petrol. Long queues formed at petrol pumps. When Indore Collector Shivam Verma came to know about the entire matter, he appealed to the people not to panic, because petrol and diesel are available in adequate condition in Indore and it is also being continuously monitored. Indore Collector also talked about taking action against those spreading rumours.
An atmosphere of chaos was created due to the spread of rumor of shortage of petrol and diesel in Chaubaradheera village under Pipalrawan police station area of Dewas district. A large number of villagers reached the petrol pump with cans and flasks. A scuffle started among the people in the race to get the fuel first, which soon turned into a dispute. The situation became so bad that some people even started kicking and punching.

In Dewas city too, huge crowd was seen at petrol pumps throughout the day on Tuesday. The situation of panic was such that people who used to fill petrol worth Rs 50-100-150-200 in their bikes every day, due to fear of shortage, kept waiting for hours in the queue to fill petrol worth Rs 500-1000.
Taking the matter seriously, the administration has clarified that there is no shortage of petrol and diesel in the district. We have enough stock here. Collector Rituraj Singh has appealed to the general public not to pay attention to rumours, exercise restraint and maintain peace. The police administration also took the stand late in the night amid rumors of petrol running out and prices rising.
SP Puneet Gehlod himself reached the petrol pumps of the city late in the night, where he advised people not to panic and pay no attention to rumours, saying that we have enough stock.
