On Tuesday, members of the opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a boycott during the budget presentation in the Delhi Assembly. This unprecedented move saw the opposition members absent during such a crucial event, marking a first in the assembly's history.

In a letter addressed to Speaker Vijender Gupta, opposition leader Atishi raised concerns regarding the suspension of AAP legislators and accused the assembly of applying double standards.

The AAP leaders had previously decided to boycott the budget session on both Monday and Tuesday, demanding the revocation of suspensions for four of their members. These legislators—Sanjeev Jha, Jarnail Singh, Som Datt, and Kuldeep Kumar—were suspended for allegedly disrupting the previous session during the Lieutenant Governor's speech.

Speaker Gupta clarified that the suspensions of the four AAP members would remain in effect for the current session, as the previous session had not been officially adjourned.
