Coronation Street's Jane Hazlegrove's real-life spouse previously featured on Antiques Roadshow - and she was left stunned by the valuation she received for some pieces.
Actress Jane joined the ITV soap back in 2019, arriving on the cobbles as Bernie, the estranged mother of Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Paul (Peter Ash).
Since then, she's been part of several major storylines including her marriage to Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) and Paul's death in 2024 following his battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Presently, she is being harassed and stalked by Mal Roper (Tim Treloar), who is intent on causing trouble for Bernie and husband Dev.
Away from the cameras, Bernie star Jane leads a considerably less dramatic existence, and is happily married to fellow soap star Isobel Middleton. And back in 2024, Isobel featured on BBC's Antiques Roadshow, reports the Daily Star.
During her appearance on the programme, Isobel presented two paintings of boats by Richard Eurich leaving expert Frances Christie - a specialist in modern art - delighted. Frances disclosed that the paintings could fetch a considerable sum if auctioned.
One of them, she estimated, could be valued between £10,000 and £15,000, while the other might achieve £15,000 to £20,000. The guest revealed: "My great aunt and her husband were early friends and patrons of Richards and they bought these early on in his career to support him."
Upon hearing the valuation, the guest declared: "I really am genuinely gobsmacked by that. I will treat them with care. I'd quite like them to end up in a gallery where everyone can enjoy them but I might hang on to them for a little while first."
Viewers at the time rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their intrigue about the mystery woman's identity. One enquired: "Is the lady with the boat paintings an actress? " While another proposed: "Isn't she an actress? I'm sure it's Bernie from Corrie's wife in real life!"
Bernie and Isobel married back in 2015 and have been together for more than two decades. Like her wife, Isobel is also within the acting profession and has secured multiple parts on Emmerdale portraying Dr Lane in 2014, a barrister in 2018, and Jean Rawson in 2020. Presently she portrays village detective DI Roberts.
Isobel has not merely appeared in Emmerdale but also Coronation Street, portraying feminist author Persephone Braxton, who hosted a book launch in Roy's Rolls in 2022.
Discussing her wife working on Corrie Jane remarked: "I wanted to come in and be her chaperone for Got it day, but she was having none of it.
"She was in the café chatting with Ken Barlow and there was a fight when Tracy comes in and catches him with his mistress. I wasn't in work that day unfortunately. Probably just as well, I don't think her character would have liked Bernie very much!"
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
