GB News was interrupted for an update on King Charles' upcoming visit to the US. On Thursday evening (March 26), Donald Trump confirmed that the King's state visit is still set to go ahead, despite his ongoing tensions with Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

"He is a friend of mine, a great gentleman... he honoured me and our country. I've known him as Prince Charles and now King... he has nothing to do with that. We're gonna have a great state visit," Trump said at the White House. Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield reacted to the update on GB News, telling presenter Bev Turner that the US President often "softens" when it comes to the Royal Family.

She highlighted how Trump's mother had scrapbooks dedicated to Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret, emphasising her admiration for the Royal Family.

Kinsey continued: "Trump said as a child that whenever anything royal related was on the television, the entire house stopped and he knew he could find his mother in front of the TV watching the British Royal Family. I think they have a space in his heart and he's proud that he associates with them on this level today."

Trump's relationship with King Charles dates back to the 90s when they were once friends, with Kinsey acknowledging that "there's a lot of respect there".

The royal commentator went on: "King Charles recognises that tries to stay about the fray. He realises that their relationship is incredibly important to the special relationship that we've heard about over the last several decades and he wants to ensure that we stay in each other's good graces.

"Before Trump had ever heard the name Keir Starmer before, Starmer was tearing into him. So this was going to be a rocky relationship from the get-go and hopefully the British Royal Family can ensure that we maintain a wonderful relationship."

Following rumours that Prince William and Princess Kate could be set to join King Charles on the visit, Bev questioned Kinsey on how "thrilling" this would be if it turns out to be true.

Kinsey responded: "It would be absolutely thrilling but we do anticipate to see the Prince and Princess of Wales in the States over the summer, so I do think we can be confident about a Prince and Princess of Wales sighting at some point this year.

"It would be wonderful if we could see them in April celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States, but we always welcome Catherine and William over here. We adore them."
