Japanese Grand Prix qualifying has finished and now attention turns to the third race of the season at Suzuka on Sunday. Mercedes continue to dominate the early stages of the 2026 campaign with Kimi Antonelli securing back-to-back pole positions after his first victory in China two weeks ago.

George Russell will be on the front row alongside his teammate despite again struggling through sections of qualifying. He discussed the recent problems following Q3 with his comments alarming even though Mercedes were able to solve the issues.

It has been an even more challenging season for Max Verstappen who continues to fight with a Red Bull car that he is not enjoying driving. The Dutchmen hit a new low on Saturday as he was eliminated during Q2 by 18-year-old Arvid Lindblad of Racing Bulls.

On the team radio following his early exit, Verstappen was far from pleased as he erupted to race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase regarding his "undriveable" car.
