The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDAI) has implemented new regulations for insurance policies. The Finance Ministry stated that to provide essential assistance to policyholders, the IRDAI has set limits on cashless insurance claims.

IRDAI has set a time limit of 1 hour for cashless pre-authorization approval and 3 hours for discharge. According to the ministry, reducing this time limit was necessary to ensure timely treatment for patients.

Golden Hour Rules for Cashless Claims

To reduce the lengthy wait times for patients in hospitals, golden hour rules have been approved. Hospitals are now required to approve treatment within one hour, while the discharge process must be completed within three hours. This will save patients time.
