PBKS vs GT: 32 crore stalwart trapped in Yuzvendra Chahal's tricks, gave biggest blow to Gujarat Titans

Even though the doors of Team India are closed for India's star leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, as soon as IPL comes, he gets a chance to show his magic and he does not miss it. Chahal, the most successful bowler in IPL history, keeps trapping big batsmen in every season and as soon as the new season started, he started showing his magic again. In the very first match of Punjab Kings in IPL 2026, Yuzvendra Chahal worked magic with a leg break against Gujarat Titans and sent back the two biggest batsmen worth Rs 32.25 crore to the pavilion.

In this match played on Tuesday 31st March in Mullanpur, Punjab, Punjab Kings bowled first. For Gujarat, captain Shubman Gill made an explosive start and took the team to 54 runs in the powerplay. The team lost the wicket of opener Sai Sudarshan early but captain Gill continued the attack and kept Punjab on the backfoot. Jos Buttler, who came from the other side, also hit some big shots.

In such a situation, Punjab was in search of a wicket and the most reliable bowler Chahal gave this success to captain Shreyas Iyer. Experienced leg spinner Chahal created pressure by giving just 4 runs in his first over and then took advantage of it in the next over. On the third ball of his second over, Chahal lured Gujarat captain Gill (salary Rs 16.5 crore) with a big shot and he was caught. Gill scored 39 runs in 27 balls.

After this, Chahal gave the biggest blow to Gujarat's hopes of reaching a big score in his last over. England's veteran Jos Buttler (salary Rs 15.75 crore), who was increasing his pace after a slow start, was sent back to the pavilion by Chahal on the fourth ball of the 16th over. Butler, like Gill, also tried to send the ball across the boundary but he too was caught out near the boundary. Butler could score only 38 runs in 33 balls. In this way, Chahal took 2 wickets for just 28 runs in his 4 overs and played a big role in restricting Gujarat to just 162 runs.
