Google is rolling out a feature allowing users to change their Gmail address while keeping the old one active as an alternate. Users can sign in with either ID and continue receiving emails on both. The feature is currently available in the US and will expand globally, with a rollout in India expected later.

If your Gmail address still carries the cringe weight of a teenage personality, think v0t3f0rp3dr02004@gmail.com or mrbrightside416@gmail.com, Google has some good news for you. The company is rolling out a feature that allows users to change their Gmail address while keeping their old one intact as an alternate, meaning no data is lost and no contacts are left behind.

Google confirmed the feature on its support page, noting that once a new address is set, users can sign in with either the old or the new one, and continue receiving emails on both.

Who all are getting this new feature?

The feature is currently rolling out gradually to users in the US and may not be available to everyone just yet. Users in India will need to wait a little longer as the rollout expands globally. Eligibility can be checked directly from Google Account settings.
