IB Director General Attends, Highlighting India’s Growing Role

The event was attended by Olli-Pekka Heinonen, director general of the IB, and Mahesh Balakrishnan, senior manager for business development (India & Nepal), highlighting India’s growing role in global education discourse. Designed as a collaborative platform rather than a traditional policy forum, the session encouraged educators to exchange ideas on leveraging hybrid learning to nurture self-directed learners.

Discussions underscored that the value of hybrid learning lies beyond simply combining online and offline methods. Participants emphasised its role in cultivating the critical skill of “learning how to learn,” essential for higher education and the modern workplace. The dialogue also addressed the need for equity, accessibility, and trust-building with families, alongside designing engaging learning environments that place students at the centre.
