Bob's Burger's star Eugene Mirman has been left seriously injured after a fiery smash that saw him trapped inside a burning car before being dragged to safety. Emergency crews rushed to the scene of the horror crash in New Hampshire on Tuesday (April 2), where a vehicle had burst into flames following a collision on a quiet road in Bedford. The voice actor - best known as the voice of Gene Belcher - was reportedly stuck inside his 2026 Lucid Gravity as fire quickly took hold after the impact.

A State Trooper, New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte and nearby witnesses rushed in to help the star, pulling Eugene from the wreckage in a desperate rescue before the car was fully engulfed. He was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he remains under medical care. Police have confirmed the crash is under investigation, with no charges filed at this time.

Colonel Mark B. Hall praised those who intervened, saying: "Certainly, their actions were heroic in what they did. Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it."

Local TV station, WCVB, previously reported on the crash, though it was unknown at the time that the voice actor was the driver.

The outlet noted that the roadway had been the site of numerous crashes in recent years.

The terrifying incident has sparked concern among fans of the long-running animated series, which has built a loyal following since its launch.

One fan wrote: "I Love Bob's Burgers, it's one of my favorite shows. Get well brother," while another added: "Terrible accident, speedy recovery."

The crash remains under investigation.

Eugene has voiced Gene Belcher since the show began back in 2011 and has also built a successful career in stand-up comedy alongside his television work.

He later returned to the role across a string of spin-off shorts and even crossed over into a 2018 episode of The Simpsons. The fan-favourite character also made the leap to the big screen, with the star once again lending his voice in 2022's The Bob's Burgers Movie.

Earlier this year, he released his comedy album and special Here Comes the Whimsy, which launched in February after being recorded live in Somerville, Massachusetts.

The project saw him tackle topics including fatherhood, travel and everyday frustrations, and formed part of a wider run of live shows.

He has also been touring across the US, including West Coast dates with Todd Barry and appearances supporting Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy.
