Morning Water Side Effects: In today’s times, the trend of drinking lots of water as soon as you wake up in the morning to stay healthy has increased a lot. Some recommend water kept in a copper vessel while others recommend water kept in a silver vessel. However, according to Ayurveda, drinking too much water in the morning without thinking and without feeling thirsty can cause serious harm to your health instead of being beneficial. Experts believe that this one mistake in the morning can affect your digestion and energy levels throughout the day.

May affect digestion

According to Ayurveda, the digestive fire of our body naturally slows down in the morning. When we drink 1-2 liters of water as soon as we wake up, it calms down that dim fire further. The direct result of this is that after this, the food taken for breakfast starts rotting in the stomach instead of being digested properly. Due to food not being digested properly, stomach problems increase in the body due to which the body does not get proper nutrition and problems like constipation start.

heaviness and loss of appetite

Drinking more water than required puts excessive stress on the body. Due to this, the complaint of heaviness in the stomach persists and the person does not feel hungry on time. Many people start feeling stomach ache and vomiting due to drinking too much water on an empty stomach. Do not try to forcefully drink 1 or 2 liters of water in the morning.

right way to drink water

There are some special rules for drinking water which are mandatory to follow.

  • Drink according to thirst: Always drink water according to your nature and thirst.
  • Sit back and sip: Never drink water while standing as it has a bad effect on digestion. One should always drink water while sitting and sip it.
  • Lukewarm water is better: Drinking lukewarm water in the morning is more beneficial.
  • Take care of the weather: In winter, lukewarm water can be taken throughout the day whereas in summer one should drink normal temperature water. The amount of water can be increased during the summer season but in other seasons one should avoid drinking excessive water.

Increase the amount of water in your daily routine gradually rather than suddenly and always listen to your body’s signals.
