Calling the Malda incident, where seven judicial officers including three women were held hostage, a conspiracy of the BJP, Banerjee claimed that this police organisation, CID, was still under her control and not under the Election Commission of India.

"The BJP took him (the accused) from the AIMIM and brought him here," Banerjee alleged. "The ISF is with them; the Congress and BJP have also provided instigation," she said. Banerjee accused the BJP of trying to create unrest in Malda.
