A group of business leaders across automotive, electronics, and renewable companies will be visiting China next week to explore various opportunities amid warming of diplomatic ties between the two neighbours.

People in the know told ET that a delegation of 16-17 top executives from companies such as Dixon Technologies, JBM, and Hero Future Energies is set to embark on a three-day trip to China starting April 6 to seek partnership opportunities and expand alliances.

The members would also visit factories in China to evaluate plant operations and examine possibilities for deepening localisation of components, the people said. This would include a visit to the BYD car plant.

"This delegation primarily intends to undertake global benchmarking across various sectors such as advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, technology, digitisation and decarbonisation," said Nishant Arya, vice chairman, JBM Group. "Further, it aims to explore the global value chain (GVC) integration as well. With recent improvement in bilateral ties and a more practical approach to cross-border investments in 2026, there is a clear window for mutual growth."

A senior company executive and a delegation member said Indian firms need to expand value chains in sectors such as electric vehicles, alternative energies like solar, and electronic products. "Now that India has taken a liberal approach as far as China is concerned, it is an opportune time to visit China which has successfully scaled up its presence in these," he said requesting anonymity. "The delegation will seek business opportunities, including joint ventures."

Another senior executive with a leading manufacturer said the visit would explore ways for potential collaboration, not just with companies forming the delegation but also the broader Indian industry.
