Lucknow, Read: The White Revolution that took place in the Terai region of the state has given a new direction to women empowerment and rural economy. In 1500 villages of six districts including Bareilly, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur and Rampur, 51 thousand women have become entrepreneurs through milk business.

Regular payments are reaching the accounts of these women on 3rd, 13th and 23rd of every month, which has made their income stable and reliable. Through self-help groups, women are taking complete responsibility from production to storage and marketing. Under the leadership of Srijani MPCL, more than one lakh liters of milk is being collected and sold every day in the Terai region. Till now women have done business worth more than Rs 225 crore. Areas which were earlier considered backward have now become new centers of women entrepreneurship. This white revolution of Terai is becoming a strong example of not only economic progress but also social change, where women are giving new impetus to the economy of the state by becoming self-reliant.
