Asian Boxing Championships: India’s claim on three positions confirmed, Nikhat-Priya and Preeti made it to the semi-finals.

Ulaanbaatar Nikhat Zareen, Priya and Preeti Pawar entered the semi-finals of the Asian Boxing Championships by winning their bouts here on Friday, ensuring at least three medals for India. Nikhat completely dominated the quarter-finals of the women’s 51kg category with an impressive victory over Gian Baguhin of the Philippines in the first round by RSC (ref stoppage). Now in the semi-finals Nikhat will face China’s Wu Yu, who won the gold medal in the 2024 Olympics. In the women’s 60 kg category, Priya showed patience and wisdom and defeated Chengyu Yang of China 4-1.

Now Priya will face Mongolia’s Namun Monkhor for a place in the finals. World Boxing Cup Finals gold medalist Preeti performed brilliantly on the fifth day in the women’s 54 kg category. Preeti defeated Mongolia’s Mungun Tsetseg 5-0 by unanimous decision and will now face Im Aji in the semi-finals. In the men’s 70kg category, Deepak bowed out in the quarter-finals after losing 1-4 to Jordan’s Zeyad Ishash.
