Haryana Approves ₹747 Crore PM POSHAN Budget For School Nutrition Scheme

Haryana government has approved ₹747 crore for FY27 under the PM POSHAN scheme to provide nutritious meals to over 14.8 lakh schoolchildren, officials said. Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi chaired the meeting reviewing implementation. The plan includes milk, protein foods, pinni and kheer, with emphasis on hygiene, quality checks, and efficient fund utilisation.

Chandigarh: The Haryana government has approved a budget of Rs 747 crore for the financial year 2026-27 under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman scheme to provide nutritious food to schoolchildren across the state, officials said on Friday.

Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi chaired a meeting of the state level steering-cum-monitoring committee, which approved Rs 747 crore for FY 2026-27 under the PM POSHAN scheme, including a Central share of Rs 222 crore, and a state share of Rs 525 crore, an official statement said.

The meeting reviewed the programme's present implementation status, financial performance, and roadmap for the year ahead.

Director of Elementary Education, Manita Malik, told the meeting that the scheme proposes to cover more than 14.8 lakh children – from pre-school to upper primary – in FY27.
