New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacers tormented the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) top order in the clash between the two sides at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Sunday, April 05. Mohammed Shami sizzled with the new balls, removing SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma on successive deliveries.
Shami got rid of Abhishek on a duck on the last ball of his first over before returning to dismiss the dangerous Head cheaply on 7 off 8 balls on the first ball of his next over. He sent the two opening batters packing in a matter of two deliveries to leave the hosts reeling on 8/2 inside two overs.
Prince Yadav further tormented the SRH top order by cleaning up skipper Ishan Kishan in the next over. Yadav, who is known for his lethal yorkers, nailed a brilliant in-swinger to leave Kishan’s stumps rattled on the second delivery of his first over. It was a peach of a delivery from the right-arm pacer, which swung in late and pierced through the gap between Kishan’s bat and pads to send the stumps flying.

Kishan was late in his defence and was beaten by pace as Prince bamboozled the explosive left-hander to send him back cheaply on just 1 off 4 deliveries. The wicket helped LSG pile more misery on SRH as their start went from bad to worse in a matter of a few overs. Kishan’s dismissal left SRH struggling on 11/3 in the 4th over as their top order crumbled.
LSG restrict SRH to 156/9 in 20 oversLucknow Super Giants managed to restrict SRH to 156/9 in 20 overs after their sensational start. After Shami and Prince wreaked havoc in the Powerplay to leave SRH tottering at 26/4, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy helped the hosts fight back with half-centuries apiece. Klaasen slammed a brilliant 62 off 41 balls, while Reddy scored 56 off 33 balls.
The duo combined to share a 116-run stand for the fourth wicket to help SRH recover from their poor start and post a fighting total on the board. However, it remains to be seen if SRH’s bowlers will be able to defend the low-key total to bag their second win of the season.
