There is great news for students of the Haryana Board in classes 10 and 12. The Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) will conduct the Class 10 and 12 board examinations twice this year, in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP). According to the Board, the objective behind this initiative is to provide students with a second opportunity to improve the marks obtained in their Class 10 and 12 board examinations. This rule of the Board will apply to Secondary and Senior Secondary schools, as well as to Gurukuls and Vidyapeeths—including the ‘Purva Madhyama’ (Secondary) and ‘Uttar Madhyama’ (Senior Secondary) levels.

Students who appeared for the Haryana Board examinations during the February-March 2026 session but are dissatisfied with their scores may apply to take the examination a second time. Students must submit their applications through the Board's official website, bseh.org.in. Excluding optional/additional subjects, students may apply to retake examinations in a maximum of three subjects, for which they will be required to pay a fee of ₹1,000 per subject.

**Second Phase Likely to Begin on April 20**
According to media reports, the second phase of the Haryana Board examinations is likely to commence on April 20. Simultaneously, the Board is also streamlining its evaluation process. The answer sheets for both Session 1 and Session 2 will be evaluated concurrently, and the evaluation process is expected to be completed by the last week of April. Board officials state that the tentative internal deadline for completing the evaluation has been set for approximately April 24. Following this, the results for both sessions will be declared simultaneously—most likely during the first week of May.

**Which Students Will Benefit?**
For students who choose to improve their scores by appearing for the examination in the second session, the highest marks obtained across both attempts will be considered as the final score. The Haryana Board has further stated that the primary objective of this system is to alleviate examination-related stress and provide students with a fair opportunity to perform to the best of their abilities. This will also benefit students who were unable to appear for certain subjects in the main examination due to illness, injury, participation in sports, NCC duties, or involvement in cultural activities. Such students may apply separately by submitting an offline form along with the necessary documents.

Which students are ineligible to take the exam?
However, only those students who appeared for at least one subject in the main examination will be eligible for this opportunity. Students who were absent from all subjects during the first attempt will not be permitted to apply for the second attempt.
