The Chetak Screen Awards 2026 just took place and alongside Zakir Khan and Sunil Grover, Alia Bhatt took the stage as a host. Although she hasn’t been spotted as a host in many events, this was the one time where she had the mic to herself and for the fans... it was enough.
Unlike the positivity that came with Khan and Grover’s hosting, fans weren’t too keen on what Alia Bhatt was bringing to the table. Considering that it was her first time, the nervousness was bound to be there. However, fans couldn’t unsee the cringe that was surfacing.

Alia Bhatt was seen making jokes about Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aditya Dhar, and Mohit Suri. Unfortunately, the jokes didn’t land, and she was met with an audience that wasn’t responding with laughs or giggles. Not only did fans think that she was cringe, but they couldn’t help but notice how high-pitched and unusual her voice seemed.
Her nervousness aside, they thought that she lacked proper comedic timing, was cringy with her delivery and was relying too much on overacting. That is a recipe for disaster in the viewers’ eyes, and she wasn’t helping her case. What made matters worse was the lack of reaction from the audience present.

Were they to at least respond to her jokes, if not laugh, then a fake laugh or a simple reaction would help. While people may think that she is a good actress, the same cannot be said for her hosting skills. Especially considering the negative reactions that have overtaken social media.
The backlash is relentless, so much so that fans were wondering if she should just stick to acting instead of hosting. However, they also acknowledged that the crowd’s silence wasn’t helping her performance.
