The UP Board has taken a major decision regarding the new academic session of 2026-27. Henceforth, instruction in all schools across the state will be conducted exclusively using authorized textbooks. A stern warning has been issued regarding strict action against the use of unauthorized books. The objective of this order is to enhance the quality of education and ensure the availability of uniform study material for students. To this end, the government has issued clear guidelines under the Intermediate Education Act, aiming to ensure a consistent standard of education throughout the state.
This order applies to all schools—government, aided, and private alike. If any school is found utilizing unauthorized books, strict action will be initiated against it. The purpose of this decision is to foster transparency and uniformity within the education system, thereby ensuring that all students receive an education of an equal standard.
**Decision to Mandate Authorized Textbooks**
For students in Classes 9 and 10, authorized textbooks for English, Mathematics, and Science have been made mandatory. Meanwhile, for Classes 11 and 12, prescribed textbooks for 36 subjects have been implemented. Furthermore, 70 textbooks published by the NCERT have been adopted across the entire state, a move intended to promote education of a national standard. Additionally, 12 selected textbooks have been designated for the subjects of Hindi, Sanskrit, and Urdu.
**Emphasis on Monitoring and Awareness**
To ensure the effective implementation of this order, officials at the district and divisional levels have been directed to maintain strict vigilance. Book awareness camps will also be organized within schools to enable students and parents to obtain accurate information regarding the correct textbooks.
The government has also taken steps to ensure that authorized textbooks are made available to students at affordable rates. To facilitate this, the responsibility for the printing and distribution of these books has been entrusted to three authorized agencies. It is anticipated that this comprehensive initiative will lead to improvements in the education system and provide students with superior, standardized study material.
