Chennai: Tamil television actress Subashini, known for her role in the serial Kayal, was found dead in her apartment in Chennai.

Subashini, who was originally from Sri Lanka, was living in an apartment in Ayyappanthangal area of the city.

Police said they received information about the incident and shifted the body for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.

According to initial reports, the actress was allegedly involved in an argument with her husband over a video call before the incident. Officials suspect mental distress could be a possible reason, though the exact cause is yet to be confirmed.

The news has shocked fans and members of the television industry, with several co-actors expressing grief on social media.

Subashini had also appeared in supporting roles in a few films apart from her work in television serials aired on Sun TV.
