New Delhi, 07 April 2026: MS Dhoni is out of the playing eleven of Chennai Super Kings. However, in the match against Punjab Kings, CSKA has given a chance to 20-year-old cricketer Prashant Veer to debut. Prashant Veer is an all-rounder who has been selected in the Chennai team in place of Matthew Short. But who is Prashant, the player on whom Chennai Super Kings spent Rs 14.2 crore (Prashant Veer IPL price CSK) in the mini auction?
Prashant Veer was born on November 20, 2005 in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. Prashant bowls right hand off spin and is also a good batsman. He first gained recognition in the UP T20 League, where he performed well for Noida Super Kings. Prashant also had an excellent all-round performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Playing for Uttar Pradesh, the 20-year-old took nine wickets in seven matches and scored 112 runs at an explosive strike rate of 170. He is also being called the new Ravindra Jadeja of Chennai Super Kings, because he not only bats but also bowls excellent right-arm off-spin.
20-year-old Prashant Veere made his domestic cricket debut for Uttar Pradesh in October last year. So far, he has taken nine wickets and scored 112 runs in nine T-20 matches. He also has experience in eight List A matches, in which he has taken 10 wickets and scored 133 runs. He got the IPL contract based on his impressive performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
He has made his first-class debut for Uttar Pradesh, but his red-ball figures have not been particularly impressive. He has taken two wickets in four first-class innings and has failed to make any impact with the bat.
