Haryana-born Singh became a subject of intense public interest after his interview at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, where he shared information about his unconventional journey.

Abhey Singh transformed from an aerospace engineer to an ascetic. After completing his studies at IIT Bombay, Abhey Singh shifted to Canada in 2019, He said in an interview with CNN news18. He earned a handsome salary of ₹3 lakh per month (roughly ₹36 lakh per year). Still, Singh battled with depression and a feeling of something missing in his life. "In terms of INR, I was earning ₹3 lakh per month in Canada. However, the expenses there are proportionate [to your salary], " he explained. "Your expenses rise accordingly. An apple here will cost ₹50. There it will sell for ₹200," he added in Hindi.
