  • It is not mandatory to install a stabilizer with an air conditioner (AC), if the power situation in your area is stable.
  • The stabilizer protects the AC from voltage fluctuations, especially if the AC is non-inverter.
  • In many cities of India, the voltage drops or rises frequently, in such a situation it becomes necessary to install a stabilizer.

The demand for air conditioners (AC) increases during the summer season. In such a situation, this question often arises in the minds of consumers whether it is mandatory to install a stabilizer with the AC. The answer directly depends on the electricity condition of your area and the type of AC.

function of stabilizer

The stabilizer regulates the electrical voltage. This protects the AC if there is a sudden drop or rise in voltage. Without a stabilizer, the AC’s compressor and PCB may get damaged due to power fluctuations.

Inverter AC status

Most of the inverter ACs currently available in the market already have a voltage protection system inside. These ACs can usually operate between 160 to 280 volts without any problem. If the electricity situation in your area is stable, then it is not necessary to install a separate stabilizer.

When is stabilizer necessary?

In many cities and old areas of India, the voltage drops or rises frequently. In such a situation, the internal protection of the inverter AC is always not sufficient. Prolonged voltage fluctuations can reduce the lifespan of an AC. In such areas it becomes mandatory to install stabilizer.

Requirement in non-inverter AC

Old or non-inverter ACs do not have the facility of voltage protection. These depend directly on electricity, so it is necessary to install a stabilizer with them. Otherwise, the AC may malfunction due to sudden voltage fluctuations.
