Joe-Warren Plant has addressed Jacob Sugden's future in Emmerdale following months of torment.

The ITV soap has been exploring workplace bullying through trainee Jacob Sugden and his mentor Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker).

The doctor has been relentlessly criticising and finding fault with her student, and matters recently escalated with her relocating to the village, blurring the boundaries between Jacob's professional and personal life.

Despite their characters being at odds, actor Joe-Warren has revealed this couldn't be further from the truth when filming wraps.

Speaking to the press, Joe-Warren said: "Caroline's [Harker] probably the best actress I work with."

"I feel a sense of responsibility being on this show for 16 years and trying to fly the flag high for us, but Caroline has so much experienced with everything she's done and she gives a lot of good advice."

He continued: "We're serious about the work but we get on so well.

"In between takes and stuff the conversations that we have are very thought provoking and It's been an absolute pleasure."

"Caroline brings such an energy to the performance. one thing that I've loved about working with Caroline is the fact that she really cares about it and so do I

"I think the last two months is probably the most fun I've had at work because I've been so busy.

"I always think in those moments where you don't really get a moment to rest is when you learn the most about yourself.

"It's been really, really amazing and things are going to heat up."

Next week's Emmerdale spoilers reveal that Jacob feels a sense of relief when Dr Todd reassures him that all is well between them, blissfully unaware that Todd is secretly recording an audio log in which she accuses him of obsessive behaviour.

Pushed to breaking point by Dr Todd's psychological games, Jacob arranges to swap shifts with Rich in a bid to escape her for a single day, only for his heart to sink upon discovering that the placement swap has resulted in him being assigned to work alongside her the very next day instead.

Meanwhile, the scheming Todd cunningly manipulates Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) into becoming convinced that Jacob is fixated on her.
