Regular trims or haircuts are of immense importance in maintaining the health of the hair. Many people follow various tricks to get thick and shiny hair. But all efforts can go in vain if the hair is not cut at the right time. It is generally believed that cutting hair will make it grow faster. Experts, however, believe that this popular belief is wrong. In fact, hair growth depends on the health of the scalp. Cutting hair from the tip has no direct relation to its growth. Yet why is it necessary to run scissors regularly? Know some important reasons behind it.

১) Hair should be trimmed at regular intervals keeping in mind the structure and health of the hair. Hair grows on an average of one to one and a half centimeters per month. However, this speed can be more or less due to genetic factors, diet or hormonal influence. If the hair is not trimmed regularly, the tendency to split ends increases. These split ends gradually spread to the top of the hair, making the hair brittle and rough. As a result, the hair becomes more tangled and looks thinner.

২) How often you cut your hair depends on your hair type. Those who want to grow long hair can get a trim once every 10 to 12 weeks. In this the damaged part can be removed without much effect on the length. However, if your hair is chemically colored or very dry, it is wise to get a trim every 6 to 8 weeks. To maintain a short hairstyle, it is necessary to visit the salon again every 4 to 6 weeks. On the other hand, curly or textured hair can wait up to 8 to 12 weeks.

৩) There are some signs to know if it’s time for a haircut. If you notice that the ends of your hair are thinning, not easily detangled, or have lost their natural luster, it’s time to trim. Remember, shaving only makes hair thicker—there is no scientific basis for this idea. Rather, keeping eggs, nuts and green vegetables in the diet and regular scalp care are the real keys to faster hair growth. Regular trimming along with proper care keeps hair healthy, which indirectly helps in maintaining hair density and length.
